What is a sound bath?
It is where sound is used to induce a state of rest – mentally and emotionally as well as physically. Instruments are played to help slow brainwaves and activate your parasympathetic nervous system. This is a network of nerves and when activated helps to slow our heart and breathing rates and enter a state of relaxation.
Everything is vibration, including parts of our bodies, with different parts having different resonant frequencies. The vibrations created by sound can support with improving balance within our bodies.
What to expect when attending a sound bath?
You'll need to bring with you whatever you need to get comfortable. So think about bringing a yoga mat, pillows and blanket(s) to make sure your super comfy throughout as your body temperature will lower as you relax. Do bring a bottle of water with you too.
Throughout the session you'll be invited to lay down whilst I play the various instruments. If you need to move around then you can – you don't need to lay in the same position throughout.
My instruments of choice include crystal sound bowls, a pan drum, chime and ocean drum. The session will start with getting grounded and then the main part of the session will be the crystal bowls.
Towards the end of the session there will be a few moments of silence to allow you the change to fully internally reflect before return to being more consciously aware. At the end you will also have a chance to draw an oracle card too if you would like.
The full session will last 70 minutes. You are not expected to share anything following the session but if you want to discuss your experience within the group you are welcome.
